Kererū South K7-K10

🌟🌟What a wonderful end to a crazy Term 2!  We loved celebrating Matariki - the Maori New Year by dressing up as 'sports stars', 'shinning stars', 'rock stars' or just our gorgeous star selves!  We paraded around our hub with our buddies classes - Pukeko 5 and 6, we created special star baskets with our little buddies over the week, and we completed a whole school star hunt on Friday, resulting in some special treasure delivered to our baskets!🌟🌟

Kererū 7 and Kererū 8 spent some time in Term 2 painting rocks.  Each child choose and planned their designs and then we got painting!  It took us a few sessions, as we had to wait for each coat of paint to dry but we ended up with some creative Emoji rocks, watermelons, monsters and ladybugs!  We think they would make wonderful paper weights, garden decorations or just a wee memory from 2020!

We all loved reading and discussing the book, How To Not Go To School Written By Mike Fordge that was written while we were in lockdown this year. When we had finished reading the book, we chose a rock that we painted. Then we selected our emoji design that we sketched and used vivid to go over the pencil marks. Some of us added paint colour for special facial features to our emoji designs too. We then added some clear vanish to finish it off!
