K10's Best Part Of Me

Last week K10 chose their favourite body part to write about and give reasons why using the word because. They also had to think of effective adjectives to describe their body part and try and use a simile too. The children loved having their photos taken of their body part. Here are a few examples of their writing....

The best part of me is my feet. I like running and playing football because I am fast. I can travel on a plane to go on holidays. I can walk and stand up on my two feet. I like swimming with them too. They are my feet, not yours. They are the best part of me. By Camille

My favourite body part is my tongue because if I did not have my tongue I could not spit at my big sister when she is being naughty. If I did not have my tongue I could not lick scrumptious divine lollipops. My tongue is like bumpy chewing gum when I poke out my tongue. I can roll my tongue and make it into a long tunnel. Everyday I am trying to do more tricks with my tongue. Thumbs up tongue! By Olive

The Last of our 'Me Bags' - Kererū 8

What a wonderful way to end our sharing last week!! Olive and Stella had some wonderful treasures, memories and special items that told us a little more about each of them.  I have been so proud of all the children!!  It's not easy talking to an audience, especially when English may not be your first language.  We have certainly enjoyed listening and learning about each other.  Our oral language focus is now going to be about listening to facts and stories, having discussions, forming opinions and sharing thoughts and ideas.

The Last of K10's Me Bags

Wow, I have been incredibly proud of all the children in K10 for sharing their Me Bags in front of their peers. Children can sometimes be very nervous talking in front of a big group, but you all gave it a go with confidence. I am really looking forward to you sharing more current events and news throughout the year.

Canterbury Rugby Fun Session for Kererū 8

We ended the week with a fantastic session run by Canterbury Rugby on Friday.  The children completed obstacle courses and some great games.  It was HOT but so wonderful to see the children working in teams and cheering each other on!!  We especially enjoyed the cold ice block we were treated to at the end!!  A note with more details about involvement in rugby outside of school will be coming home next week.

More About Us!

We had some amazing 'Me' bags to end the week last week!  It has been so lovely to see the children's treasures, some from when they were in mums tummy, to sporting interests, favourite books, photos of very loved pets and families!  We have another week of listening and learning to do on the last few children in our class.

K10's Me Bags and Canterbury Rugby

I have been so impressed with all the children that have presented their Me Bags to the class. We have certainly learnt a lot about each others interests and family.

What a wonderful way to end the week with having Kids Canterbury Rugby come and entice us with a few games and the love of the sport!
